According to the article in the link below, there are at least 5 colonies on Mars, being protected by approximately 1,000 military personnel, from aliens.

So, anyone pondering a Marsgrunt scenario, scenarios, or a campaign?

Tours on the red planet, or cruising to and from them can be for as long as 20 years.

Sounds pretty far out, even given today's tech, but it appears we are rapidly approaching a time when there will be bases and/or colonies on the Moon, Mars, and perhaps other planets or moons in our solar system too.

What rules are you using for your Moongrunt, and/or Marsgrunt games?

The new game "Lunar" looks pretty interesting, though it is in 28mm, and a bit too expensive for me, currently.

For me, 28mm is a bit too unaffordable, so I'll probably be going with 15mm/18mm figures from GZG and others.

25mm could also be posible using the old GZG, and/or Denizen miniatures offerings.

Nah. Not for me. Mars is officially reserved for High Adventure, after the model of either Edgar Rice Burroughs or Leigh Brackett. If I just want light gravity and air too thin to breathe, I can set my skirmish pretty much anywhere, but old pre-space probes Mars has a unique feel. And it's at least as real as those five colonies.

So, the guy quoted at the link says he served in a multi-national outfit called "the Earth Defense Force"?

So he was a character in StarBlazers?

I was thinking this is/was an ad for "The Expanse", but haven't seen that show in quite some time, so can't remember the names of the factions.

There is and was a lot of money allotted to black projects as far back as 60 years ago, and no doubt ever since, so it is fun to consider what might be if some of that were allocated to secret spacecraft, bases, a "space force", etc..

I find "colonies on Mars" a bit too far out there to be real, but it IS fun think about, especially if we are researching alien tech, or combating them on a far-off world in order to keep from having to fight them here at home.

A secret base, or bases on the moon are a bit more likely, to study, fight, or conduct relations with those aliens seen on the rim of the crater, on our first lunar landing.

Perhaps our new "space force" is simply pulling back the rug a little on an organization which has been in existence for a very long time.

I'd go with Stargrunt, using GZG 25's or my 28s (I freely mix).

These days, I find "the government can keep a big secret, known to hundreds or thousands" to be a less believable starting point than FTL drives or intelligent aliens.

For an easy environmental effect of suit penetration I'd move wounds up one level.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Excellent idea Striker. Thank you.

I always liked a " Mars colony revolts" scenario which leads to space combat between the two sides before the Earth conducts a large scale drop.

Lots of Armored desert fighting follows and the "Martians" are eventually beaten into conducting a lengthy guerilla war.

Say…that sounds pretty good….KICKSTARTER anybody???
