Hello: A few years ago I organized a bachelor party for a friend who only wanted a big gaming day, so I rented a hall at a hotel and we had almost a mini Con, at least 30 people running different games through out the day. My friend, whom is Steve Keyer wants to try to do that again with the same people, but I'm thinking if there are more wargamers out there we don't know but would like to increase their gaming groups with new blood maybe this event could do it. I'd like to call it the " Northern New York wargaming group" Our group does mostly historical games but I do fantasy as well as Sci-if, so if this is of interest please reply.

Good luck with your project, Irish Marine.

Steve is a great guy and a great resource when it comes to gaming in that area. Council (formerly Council of Five Nations) where I met him years ago was cancelled this year due to the pandemic, but they hope to return next year. You should find some like minded players there.

Depending on your location, you can also try basing your group near West Point. That might draw some extra interest.

Good luck.

Til then there is Cincycon, ironically in Hamilton, Ohio. Maybe you could put out the word and meet there. H

Define Northern NY. You're in Saratoga – are we talking Watertown or Plattsburgh?

To some anything North of White Plains is "upstate" .

Irish Marine: If you are intrigued by 47Ronin's West Point idea, I humbly suggest contacting the West Point Museum and/or Visitor's Center, both of which are open to the general public on a daily basis.

So, anything from Westchester County up is Northern New York to me, and it's the federal court district. So, yes Watertown and Plattsburgh are Northern New York. I was hoping for more feed back from players, but looking at the member locator a lot of people in areas of Northern New York haven't visited TMP in 10 or so years.

Yes, West Point is a great location for a gaming convention or a Saturday game day.

Fans of the old PointCon know this all too well.

Interesting on how you divided up your territory based on NY federal court districts, Irish Marine. I know somebody who is admitted to the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts. (Nothing like a trip to federal court in Buffalo to make you appreciate Manhattan, even Brooklyn.) Maybe he will show up to run a game in your Northern district.

We'll see.

I split my time between the Hudson Valley and the Adirondacks. I would be very interested in any historical wargaming event, gathering, group or individual players in those areas or in between.

Saratoga off-season would be fantastic for a Con. With a real battlefield nearby !!

Irish Marine:

The North Country Tactical Society is based in Watertown. Great group of guys. They have a page on Facebook. I'm in Central NY (Syracuse) and we have a group here too.
