I played the same game with Fantastic Battles blackshawgaming.wordpress.com/2021/09/13/fantastic-battles and Warmaster rules blackshawgaming.wordpress.com/2021/08/24/return-to-warmaster
Both worked out OK

Also some useful maths on wheeling distances with 40cm bases, calculations on the blog, some rounding used to maintain sanity

Degrees 2 bases 3 bases 4 bases
30 4 cm 6 cm 8 cm
45 6 cm 9 cm 12 cm
60 8 cm 12 cm 16 cm
90 12 cm 18 cm 25 cm

So which rule set did you find you liked most?

Fantastic Battles has some good points but overall Warmaster Revolutions

Reading your account, I think I'd still prefer even classic Warmaster. In Warmaster, if you want to wheel, you wheel. If you want to pivot, you pivot. No calculations or tools needed. If the charge requires it, the new position is simply automatic.

Nice reports and game comparisons.
The comparison of the various figure options is also good.
I found that the discrepancy in size doesn't matter once the units are on the table.

I also have both rules and prefer Warmaster Revolution.
The robust simplicity of WR and having formation options makes WR my choice for 10mm fantasy rules.

Great write up! Is it just me, or are we having a resurgence in interest in Warmaster? I just "discovered" warmaster Fantasy (revolution) after a long hiatus from WHFB. I used to play a lot in the late 90's and early 2000's but had grown disillusioned and moved on. Somehow, I missed WM when it first came out, and instead toyed with other systems like Demonworld and Armies of Arcana…. None of which stuck.

I'm a huge fan of Hail Caesar and Black Powder, so WM is right up my alley… I just ordered two 10mm starter armies from Excellent Miniatures, and am looking forward to getting them on the table!

Warmaster Revolution is a solid product, kept updated by 'the committee' and free

Very much feels like this is the case, probably fuelled by the availability of some superb 3D printed armies online (some of which have to be seen to be believed). Our little group have been happily playing the game on and off since it came out but it's really encouraging to see such a growth in interest. This was reflected in the 2021 London GT which was very well attended.
