I must start with an apology as WWII is out of my expertise. I can do M4s in Free French markings, but that is it. I was fascinated to see the Crusader in USSR service under Lend Lease. I knew about the Valentine, but thought that most British tanks were so inferior to Soviet latest designs that they never saw service. I cannot imagine how difficult it would have been for USSR maintenance units to suddenly have to service a forieign tank like this, in small numbers, with no spare parts, for a totally inadequate menace, to the enemy anyway. If you have T34s and KV1s, who needs a Crusader (or Matilda, or Churchill, or any of the A series?) |

Probably because Soviets believed in quantity; more was better even if the tanks weren't! |

"Crusader" was not supplied to the USSR. |
