… WILL LOOK NOTHING LIKE STAR WARS "In the vacuum of space, no one can hear you blow up a Star Destroyer! Although interstellar combat sounds far more interesting and visually stunning with brilliant green fireballs, blinding supernovas of debris, and epic mega-explosions, reality may be something much different and boring, according to a recent Aerospace Corporation report. Putting aside our inaccurate childhood daydreams of thrilling Star Wars-like dogfights and Star Trek-ish photon torpedo volleys with swarms of starfighters engaged in furious melees, actual modern space warfare (if it ever occurs) will likely be a completely different experience as the world slowly comes to terms with the militarization of space, defensive satellites, and the formation of the U.S. Space Force…" SF Wire link Armand |

Steve Jackson Games did a game of satellite combat years ago – perhaps as a magazine game? I looked at it, never played it. |

I imagine a lot of math will be involved and space stuff will probably look like it just breaks apart with no visible means of destruction. Pretty boring to look at, I would guess. I'll stick to Full Thrust. |

Yeah, that's a pretty good game, plays like an updated version of the old SJ Game "Orbit Wars." If you want a hardcore scifi space combat system, the same guy who wrote the essays I posted also did the games Squadron Strike and Attack Vector (Ad Astra games) with realistic 3D movement and combat based on current physics theories (except the Jump Drive/FTL so ya can go star hopping). |
