Earlier this month Mr Steve and I spent a very pleasant and sunny day exploring the English Civil War history around and in Devizes, Wiltshire. A long held ambition to take the time to explore the area, after many visits to the Devizes Wargaming show, 'Attack' over the years, was finally ticked off the list. If you would like to see how are day went together with a summary of the events that unfolded in the area back in the summer of 1643, then just follow the link to JJ's. link JJ |

That is an excellent, well illustrated read. Thanks for the pics, maps and the effort to put all that together. |

Thanks JJ, it's been on my list 'to visit' for a wee while. Just even further away from my house than yours! |

Thanks JJ. I recall taking part in a reenactment there in 1993 – sadly the Army of the Saints were defeated that day! |

Very nice report and pictures. I remember driving through Devizes on our Great Vacation many years ago. The heights impressed me then as now. |

Hi Chaps, Thanks for your comments and glad you enjoyed the read. As I commented on the blog, these posts are very much my own journal in the wider hobby and I write them in the hope that I might like to read them again, years from now, when I've forgotten what we were doing. So it's great to hear when others like the same stuff. JJ |
