"The U.S. drone hit a vehicle carrying the ISIS-K leader who was believed to be "carrying out future attacks," a U.S. official briefed on the strike tells Fox News… The drone strike took place a few hours ago near the border with Pakistan, the official said…" Posted on Fox News 'live update' link Will this deter future attacks, or ratchet things up? |

I think we blew up someone the Taliban said needed blowing up. |

I hope it IS true, and indeed an accurate strike against one of the perpetrators, but it seems a little too convenient and fast to me. I'm reminded of cruise missile strikes by Bill Clinton (10 Year TMP rule being invoked here before the harpies descend in protest) back in the day on unoccupied, empty tents out in the middle of the desert, and an aspirin factory, in a "wag the dog scenario" to distract from his sexual escapades in the Oval Office with a young intern. |

More drone strikes need to occur now and after we leave. ISIS and AQ are still a threat to the US & Europe … |

Too little and too late. I think the Tali's are feeding the USA info to target their enemies. Use the USA to get rid of their competition! |

The main stream media always loves a little drone strike. It really doesn't matter who was hit. It's all about selling an approved narrative. |
Legion 4 | 28 Aug 2021 7:18 a.m. PST |
That maybe true Raynman … IMO anytime we can hit/kill jihadi/terrorists in a plus. And yes USAF … who doesn't like a good drone strike on jihadi/terrorists ?!? 😄Hope they show the footage … 😁 Jihadi/terrorists are subhuman, savages … they should be hunted down with drones like the rabid vermin they are … 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 |

Was anyone else's BS Meter tingling when they first heard that story? 1. One Bad Guy killed. Hooray! 2. No civilian collateral damage! Yippee! (Man, them drones are great!) 3. Hey! We actually got 2! And wounded another! (Wow! This just keeps getting better!) 4. Errrrrrrr…….. |
USAFpilot | 28 Aug 2021 7:21 p.m. PST |
Yep. So our intel didn't know that the Afghan Army was going to crumble in weeks and the Taliban would capture Kabul so quickly; but they discovered this ISIS bomber amidst all the current chaos? Yea right. I wonder if this was just some poor schmuck in a van. The leadership needed a kill to show the press to make it look like they got the bad guys behind that suicide bombing on our troops. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 28 Aug 2021 10:41 p.m. PST |
They might be waiting to confirm who got killed via signals intelligence first. It would be awkward if they announced who was killed, and got it wrong. |

No Intel on ground yet pulled this out of a hat? Quite skeptical I am. |
Legion 4 | 29 Aug 2021 8:57 a.m. PST |
Well its seems a Drone strike killed 2 and wounded 1 ISIS-K(?) in a vehicle. We still have a lot of "eyes in the sky" and other intel sources, etc. I'm pretty sure this strike happen and badd guys were killed, etc. Based on what I have read, seen, etc. Now we all saw last night a US Drone strike took out a VBIED in Kabul probably heading to the airport. It did happen in the city so there may have been CD. Probably the Taliban, et al will say it cause non-combatant loses. E.g. "innocent women & children" etc., etc.. That is standard with jihadis/terrorists anywhere. Sadly this may have caused CD … but with what is at risk … it may have been unavoidable. Another good reason we should have never abandoned Bagram. It is a heavily fortified location. Not an urban/MOUT environment … Interviews with former CPLs, SGTs to GENs have again repeatedly said Bagram should have not be abandoned. It is only a 20 min flight from the US Embassy in Kabul. |

+1 OFM and +2 for it being 2 dudes. "Hey look we aren't a bunch of incompetent yahoos! In less than 48 hrs we found and eliminated 2 guys out of what, a million? Boy our Intel is top notch." |
Thresher01 | 30 Aug 2021 7:58 a.m. PST |
No collateral damage, I suspect, since they used the new Ginsu-Hellfire missile, which has NO explosives in it, but does have a fairly solid core (presumably), as well as 6 x foldout, katana-like, blades, for your slicing and dicing pleasure. Apparently, from what I've heard, two guys were killed, and one was wounded, but escaped the vehicle. link Sadly, seems to me it should have had at least a small explosive warhead, in order to get the other guy too. Perhaps that will be added to a follow-on model. |
Legion 4 | 30 Aug 2021 9:21 a.m. PST |
The Reaper can carry a number of different weapons on the 6 hardpoints, too. We also intercepted 5 Katusha type(?) rockets fired at the airport in Kabul today. Well 4 were intercepted … one landed on the airport but his nothing. Very inaccurate generally it seems … Hopefully we will do more drone strikes today and afterwards as needed. IMO a lot will be needed … Maybe daily I'd think ? I'd hope … As I have said before … every jihadis/terrorists we kill is a good kill. Repeat … |
Thresher01 | 30 Aug 2021 11:42 a.m. PST |
Yea, although an 80% success rates doesn't really inspire confidence, I guess it IS better than nothing. Would be nice if one or more of our drones were circling overhead in order to take out the attackers immediately upon launch. |
arealdeadone | 30 Aug 2021 2:54 p.m. PST |
In terms of collateral damage there are media reports the strike wiped out a family including small children. If true I suspect US Intel was flawed which given debacle after debacle is quite plausible. |
Legion 4 | 30 Aug 2021 5:13 p.m. PST |
I await an intel update … Which strike are we talking about ? IMO most media reports generally are skewed, biased, etc. |

Actually just saw this on the Warzone: link We are aware of reports of civilian casualties following our strike on a vehicle in Kabul today. We are still assessing the results of this strike, which we know disrupted an imminent ISIS-K threat to the airport. We know that there were substantial and powerful subsequent explosions resulting from the destruction of the vehicle, indicating a large amount of explosive material inside that may have caused additional casualties. It is unclear what may have happened, and we are investigating further. We would be deeply saddened by any potential loss of innocent life. - Capt. Bill Urban, USN, U.S. Central Command Spokesman So possibly explosives in the car blew up when it was hit and killed civilians. |

I read it on CNN – it's all uncorroborated of course. Goes without saying … So possibly explosives in the car blew up when it was hit and killed civilians. This is what I had thought and also heard on the News somewhere. We talk about this all the time. That in an "insurgency" in an urban environment. CD is hard to avoid. In many cases all you can do is try to limit it. In this case a car loaded with HE, etc., to be used as a VBIED. I'd think CD would become very much secondary. With the situation our troops were put in at the airport. It was not at all an orderly phased withdrawal, etc., … Well we all saw what happened … so no need to go over all of it again. |
