…Coming Months

"For months, top officials at the Defense Department have been working toward declassifying the existence of a secret space weapon program and providing a real-world demonstration of its capabilities, Breaking Defense has learned.

The effort — which sources say is being championed by Gen. John Hyten, the vice-chairman of the joint chiefs of staff — is close enough to completion that there was a belief the anti-satellite technology might have been revealed at this year's National Space Symposium, which kicks off next week…"

Interesting article but not about space weapons but the debate as to to whether deterrence works if opponents don't know anything about your capabilities.

Doctor Strangelove had a quite relevant discussion about the futility of a Doomsday Device if you don't say you have one.

Secret weapons, unlike doomsday weapons, are not for deterrence. Their job is to provide the element of surprise. Once they've been used, they're not secret any more, and everyone, friend and foe alike, will start working on copying them and developing countermeasures.

That's the job of secret weapons that actually work. There are secret weapons that don't work, and you leak information about them so that your foes will waste time and money working on copies and countermeasures.

Hopefully, "Rods from God" to smite our enemies at will, very quickly, at any point on the globe.

Hopefully, "Rods from God" to smite our enemies at will/

That would be a good development.

Ever since I read about those and saw on the History Chan. I loved that concept ! 🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍

Who knows they may be up there already ? Too bad we can't use them in A'stan. But we have Drones & MOABS for that. Would save "Rod's From God" for something bigger. You can imagine the long list.

there was an article on daily mail about Typhoon pilots practicing going to the 'edge of space' to launch weapons. The article suggested SM-3 missile but don't think could fit these to fighters and going that high wouldn't need most of the missile, but could of done a new version of the old the ASAT missile (ASM-135)

Thresher0130 Aug 2021 11:45 a.m. PST

I can see that, since we launched ASATs with our F15s back during the Cold War.
