I am no 100% sure because I often open and scatter the contents of my boxes, but I am pretty sure the last three things I bought off eBay, Spanish 1st Battalion, Portuguese Battalion and French Peninsular Starter army came without bases. Is it me or is Warlord skimping on the bases?

Or….. come to think of it…. I bought these from the same eBay vendor that I bought a Battlefront US WWII starter from, and the box was short the advertised Stuarts…. Perhaps the seller is robbing the boxes and re-shrink-wrapping? Hate to think so.

Were the Stuarts meant to be included in the main box or as a blister/box "thrown in"?

In the box…. shown on cover and listed as contents.

Warlord boxes usually have a "packed by" slip inside. I'd say reach out to them, ask if there have been any issues, and share your experience if you think appropriate. It could range from what you hope isn't true to "new guy on his first day on his own."

I cannot say Warlord has skimped on anything. I have had a different negative experience, as follows.

I decided to add to my 28mm Gallic army, so purchased 6 boxes each of Celts, 6 of ancient Germans, 6 of ancient Britons etc. I also ordered some sprues separate from the boxes. The end result was that I got the same sprue for all of them, be it Britons, Celts or Germans. The only difference was one of the three types of boxes included "some" decals, not enough for the entire box but "some". The ancient German box included the same quantity and type of sprues, and added a couple of metal figures to the lot.

The bottom line is that when dealing with a variety of companies, let the buyer beware. In my case I now have a painted Gallic 28mm army, despite plastics being multi-pose with the assembly of the various parts, and I have no desire to use them because I believed in Warlord Games (past tense) and that when marketing 3 different boxes I would get different castings in each box. That was not the case.

I have nothing bad to say about the castings I received, plastic, multi-part requiring assembly-priming-painting like most, but I would rather deal with any other company now because Warlord Games' marketing convinced me that they really do not care about customer satisfaction.

Last box from Warlord (Highlanders) contained no bases and promised none. Fine by me. Casting manufacturers get no say in my rules or my basing.

I thought everyone knew warlord re-used the same sprue in their ancient barbarian ranges a few minutes of looking at the pictures on their website would tell you that. They do however provide extra metal German, Dacian, Briton heads and bits with each box to give some flavour.

Personally I'm not keen on the way Warlord have chosen to go. I'd have preferred new sprues for the Germans and Dacians as I'm not keen on adding metal extras to plastic miniatures. It never struck me that warlord where trying to con anyone about it though.

They've been nothing but good to me.

I've bought plenty of Warlord Napoleonics, none of the boxes ever included plastic bases, so I don't think these were ever part of the contents. DD
