Does anyone know of any resources that give details of the Blockhouses that the French built to defend their lines of communication in Spain? There are a few images around on the internet but I haven't found much else so far.

Were blockhouses built to spec or as needed? I've always wanted to build one in 28mm compatible size. I'm thinking 20'x20' on the bottom section and 30'x30' for the top part.

abelp01:

I would suggest looking at Paul Darnell's Touching History #1: The Napoleonic Spanish Peninsular, pp. 60-67, covers how to make a French Blockhouse.

Below is a model made by a friend for me based on Darnell's instructions. I just need to make the ditch and rampart to finish it off.
