Austal has released design for it's submission to the Navy's new Light Amphibious Warship.

And just as the specification states, it's a WWII style landing ship except with less transport capacity and far less in the way of self defence capability.

Big new plan is for these slow, undefended buckets to chug thousands of miles around the Pacific deploying about 75 Marines and missile systems on to strategically located yet completely undefended islands whereby they can blast the Chinese ships and submarines out of the water.

Biggest weakness of the LST's was speed, I see no mention of the LAW's speed in the article.
