Evening all,

Every time I blog about Wargaming, I get asked if certain figures will fit alongside other manufacturers, or if they can be mixed in the same unit together

So, i've attempted to answer your questions in this weeks blog post – there's no measuring bare metal figures from feet to eye level here – just painted minis on the same sized bases for a practical, tabletop comparison.

I hope you find it useful

As always, any comments and feedback welcome

I have also done a similar comparison but mine is now out of date as I do not have Blue Moon or Xan (though Xan was the sculptor for Fantassin/Warmodelling and I can't tell teh figs apart).

The figure comparison photos on my blog seem to get the most hits, so your photos should be very useful.

One thing I found with the Battle Honours Spanish was that most of them were a bit bigger than e.g. the BH French figures. My guess is that they were some of the last done by Barton before he started AB as they match them very well.

Good to see that the Blue Moon figures mix in well. Some of their other ranges have some very tall figures.

Very useful. Thanks.

I enjoyed looking at it. If it made a big deal to me I would use a thinner base to mount the taller figures. I have ho solution for the OG being stouter. Thank you for posting.

I think everyone will find this invaluable.

It is the constant question, in any scale, and we know how what is maybe 28mm in one range is a small 25mm in another.

This is very useful. It is so hard to explain how two ranges can be the same height, but one lot are built like dwarves from LOTR (shoulders like brick outhouses) and the next have the faces and physique of wood elves.

Do the Stonewall and Xan figures come to blows?

I have Old Glory, AB and Battle Honours sprinkled throughout my Napoleonic armies. I dont intermix them on bases or within units but they look just fine on the same battlefield. Not tried the Xan figures but I am seriously considering some pre-painted Stonewall units to flesh out where I am a bit thin – Spanish infantry for example.

The keys in napo: muskets should look the same, hats roughly of the same size and shapes.only in pre 1800 can you have non standart personal weapons as a common feature.
A few big guys and small ones in a group is better than post vaccine clones.
When one looks out of scale on a base, I found that a piece of card underneath to rise him does the job. Base pasting and grass will hide all.

I always appreciate size comparison photos. Thanks for posting your link. I was surprised, I always thought AB were the tallest but Old Glory seems taller in the photos. Very nicely painted, I should add.

Cheers!
