After my previous post lamenting the lack of plastics for the Empress dragoons and the Guard Chasseurs, it was a pleasure to see this: link You need to scroll down a few entries. No date yet of course, as we are still awaiting the British and French Peninsular Dragoons. |

Usual good sculpting from Victrix. But – I have to say this- how many Guard Chasseurs in full dress are already produced by manufacturers? It would have been refreshing, not to say useful for conversion, to see these cavalrymen actually wearing the pelisse, with perhaps an optional capote rolled across the body. |

Indeed I had to make my own in 25mm 20 years ago as my fave maker also only produced full dress. However they will make what sells, not what the market niche may want. |

I get your point. Maybe we'll have to "Airfix" it, and look to our putty and skills with a knife to get what we want. |

Some new renders have been put on the Wargames News & Terrain site: link They do indeed look fine and I can survive with grande tenue on the battlefield. After having the Victrix middle guard all in greatcoats, we wanted something with a bit more colour :). |

Wow, they are real works of art, aren't they? Just phenomenal detail. |

>>Wow, they are real works of art, Just looked. Err, what era?- LATE. The N monograph on the schabraque front I'm pretty sure is only a Lanciers affectation; also the Aigle on the rear tail is definitely late period. Initially it was a 'cornet'. I just had Rousellot out to recheck some minor painting points myself.. I'd also say, from actually looking at the real articles (ok nearly 200 years old!) but the fur effect is way too exaggerated. Obviously they've announced the 'development' of a series, not availability, ~d |

The N – was only for the Polish Lancers of the Guard, not even for the "Dutch" lancers, so for the Chasseurs you have to scrape it off, also the plumes look weired – almost British style, the shape of the colpack? Yes one has to Airfix them to make them resemble Chasseurs à Cheval. |

@von Winterfeldt. I suspect they have re-used the lancer horses. Hopefully they only used them to show off the riders and they will change later. Maybe someone on this forum can alert Victrix with the right evidence before they start the tooling process. I also wonder if Victrix have a basic horse proforma as these horses look very similar in style to those used for the ancient light cavalry. I have not seen such large horses for light cavalry since I bought Essex 25mm Scythian horse archers in the 1980s – the archers look like they are mounted on Mediaeval destriers :) |

>> also the plumes look weired – almost British style, the shape of the colpack? Thanks vW I had noticed but didn't want to 'pile on' too much. Yes I also initially thought they've studied British Crimean figures and not Napoleonic. The almost square nature of the colpack is wrong, as is the 'fur effect'. ALl those I saw for real were actually very fine fur, almost like possum or 'cat' hair, very fine filaments and not coarse and chunky as depicted. Anyway, people will enjoy them for whatever money theu wish to pay for them. My own are being painted/ repainted and have been 'WIP' for two years now! regards d |

well I am glad I bought them in 18 mm from AB, no need to Airfix them, a pure joy to see that such high class miniatures are still in production. |

Chasseurs à cheval of the Guard were mounted on heavy cavalry horses, as to alert Victix, I have may doubts that this will change anything. |
