I thought this was interesting. A few days ago I submitted a pretty lengthy review of their Epic Scale Civil War starter set. In my reasonable estimation it was a balanced, articulate review that covered both what I like about the starter set and what I don't like about it. I gave the set a rating of 4 stars out of 5 to go along with the review. And the praise far outnumbered the criticisms. If fact there was only one real criticism along with about five praises. Seems pretty reasonable right? Well, it's now the third day since I submitted it and it is still not visible for public view. I am guessing that either they are extremely busy and haven't gotten to it yet (which to be fair is entirely possible), or they did indeed read it and decided they don't want a review on their site that actually says critical things about one of their products. If it's the latter – and again I emphasize I don't KNOW this to be the case yet – but if it is the latter then I say shame on you Warlord Games. If you can't handle a review in which I praise aspects of your product but then openly criticize other aspects, why do you even have a review option to begin with? Why not just have pre-written multiple choice sentences to pick from, ranging from "it's awesome" to "it's super-awesome"? For the record, I praised the volume of stuff that came in the box. I praised the quality of the rule book and the supplements. I praised the quality of the sprues and the concept of multi-based infantry for painting and modeling. I praised the MDF buildings and terrain that came with the set. But then I very plainly criticized the flags for being too small and out of scale, and said they could have easily provided better flags. And that was the review! So wow, forgive me for praising six things about the product, criticizing one thing, and spending $250 USD of my money in the process. Money that you got to keep by the way, just saying. Funny how people talk about "cancel culture" all the time as if it only happens from a conservative perspective. Yeah, well there's plenty of canceling and censoring going on when it comes to actual, honest opinions being given that are simply not convenient for the rainbow, fluffy cloud narrative that some feel a desperate need to preserve. The punchline to this is that currently the Epic Scale starter set has LITERALLY ONE REVIEW posted. ONE. My review would have been the SECOND. TWO reviews in total. The single review that is posted is five stars out of five and says only positive things about the starter set. Hooray! Is Warlord really that afraid of one balanced review from some random gaming schmuck taking away a few sales? I didn't know I possessed that much power. Sheeeeze. |

So you are complaining after a mere 3 days that someone hasn't had time to check your review and approve it….? Apparently there is plenty of whipping of the dead horse to be done yet! |
Extrabio1947 | 03 Aug 2021 10:20 a.m. PST |
Nope. Apparently still twitching. Sometimes it takes 4-5 days for an Amazon Review to appear. I really don't worry about it. If they want to use my review, that's fine. If they don't, that's fine too. On my list of things to be concerned about, a review not showing up on a website ranks near the very bottom. |
Stryderg | 03 Aug 2021 10:31 a.m. PST |
This sort of thing has been going for years and there are few reasons for it: 1. They may be too busy to read it and update their site, or it may not be a priority for them. (Which you have already pointed out) 2. Someone may have decided that since you posted anything negative about their product, they won't post your review. That IS their right, no one is obligated to post ANY reviews of their products. 3. Maybe they decided your review was simply too long and didn't post it. 4. Maybe someone knows that you specifically wrote the review and they simply don't like you. 5. Maybe they don't think your review is balanced, fair or useful to other readers. They do have a right to their opinions, which may differ from yours. 6. Maybe they are trying to foster a perfect image of their company and your review does not comport with that image. It's called "branding" and almost every company does it, especially online. I blame Amazon for #2 & #3. Anything less than 5 stars is unacceptable, really? Then the mediocre reviews get lumped in with the awesome reviews. I blame Facebook for #6. Look up "micro celebrity", where people take down honest pictures because they don't get enough likes and post 'better' pictures to get more likes.
Is this horse not dead yet? Oh, yeah. He's dead, Jim. |

After your nonstop whinging and ranting about the flags here on TMP, I'm not surprised. Why do you think they have an obligation to print your "review" on THEIR SITE. They're an advertiser here, and I think there's a possibility that they might have read your…. threads here. This is like writing a review of Bud Light that says "This is OK, after you finish cutting the grass, or if it's free at a party. However, I wouldn't buy it myself." Then you get mad when they don't feature your "honest review" in a Super Bowl ad. PS. I am not a shill. I like their FIW minis, but with the world situation today, I find them a bit pricey. But my integrity is for sale. Should they wish to bribe me by sending me all of the Comanche and Seminoles and Delaware and Sac and Fox and… I'll write a nice review. They can contact me via PM for my address. Now I understand |

I don't really understand how in the original post the op speculates that he may be wrong because it's really too soon to complain, but then goes on to speculate how he his being wronged because his review hasn't been posted after a mere three days. |

John no… Put down that Bud Light can and step back. Life is too good (even with yardwork), to make the choice to drink crappy beer. I can help you with this my friend. I have a liquor store that is an easy 3-4 blocks walk from my house… And I have a distillery that's 10-12 blocks from my house the other way…. We can do this…. I'm here for you… |

I usually get Coors Golden Lager. With tax, it's $13.77 USD for a 30 pack. Besides, I'm not rude. If someone offers me a Bud, I'm not slapping it out of his hand. |

I didn't know that most comments sections like the above were moderated. There you go! One of the things I like about Amazon is the product ratings and comments. And against one of the earlier posters my comments are immediately visible. |

Consider also that their website form settings may have a character limit. |
The H Man | 03 Aug 2021 5:34 p.m. PST |
How do you know you were the second reviewer? Maybe others have been blocked too. Why not try again a few times. Then, if no luck, send a purely positive review. If it appears, you will know the truth. Just to clarify, was it the Amazon or Warlord site you tried to review on? |
John the OFM | 03 Aug 2021 5:52 p.m. PST |
Blocked? Let's get real. Warlord probably just decided not to use it. Don't they have the right to edit content on their own site? A commercial site? It's not sinister. It's business. If I were Warlord, I would do the same. As I said earlier, they probably read the whining on at least three other threads here, accusing Warlord of all kinds of high crimes and misdemeanors, and just didn't bother to use it. That's not "blocking". That's simply an "editorial decision" not to use it. "Blocking" implies that Watlord has a duty and obligation to load a dubious "review" and print it. Errr… no. They don't. And if I were Warlord, I would blacklist OP from any "reviews". I wonder what tomorrow's rant about the free flags is going to be? |
The H Man | 03 Aug 2021 11:52 p.m. PST |
It's blocking one way or the other, if warlord are deliberately preventing a customer from posting a review. Whether or not they have the right to do so is irrelevant in regards to if it's blocking or not. It seems anyone can post a review. Made for abuse it would seem. so, there must be some screening going on. If they are deliberately doing it, it's not in their best interest, as now loads of target audience hear all about it here. If they just put up the dang review, it would have had much less fanfare. Take away, don't off your customers. |
IUsedToBeSomeone | 04 Aug 2021 2:48 a.m. PST |
I find this all a ridiculous over reaction by most people – Warlord have probably NOT EVEN LOOKED AT IT YET! |
Marcus Brutus | 04 Aug 2021 7:23 a.m. PST |
I just checked on the Epic Battles: American Civil War Starter Set at Warlord games and there are 4 reviews. 2 5 star, 1 4 star and 1 3 star. There is a four star review by Michael Hayes that sounds like Baranovich's review that got posted on August 2, 2021. Perhaps waiting a few extra days might have saved the need for the original post. |

Ok, I'll say it… …maybe they only put it up after reading about the issue here… It may also seem they were waiting for the better (in their possible opinion) review to put up above it, as has happened. The better review my have been sourced or manufactured by them to balance things in their favour?? Actually the third review down, also newly put up,is even more critical. Jumping the gun, maybe, but we will never know for sure. It does prove WL aren't afraid of posting criticism, which is good. |

The thing that puzzles me most about this storm in a teacup from the OP is that the flags are quitely clearly shown on the Warlord site in the pictures of the Starter set – so you know what you are getting before you order it! |
gunnerphil | 05 Aug 2021 10:26 a.m. PST |
So you buy 2400 figure loads of artillery, some terrain pieces, rule book, and scenario book, and you are not happy about a piece of paper with flags on. So if you had seen the naughty flags would you have still bought the stuff? |
The H Man | 05 Aug 2021 4:36 p.m. PST |
It's still one of the let downs/inaccuracies of the product. Bringing it up is exactly the right thing to do. If some don't care about it, that's fine, but others (like myself) are very grateful. If there is not one already, perhaps a board dedicated to model inaccuracies may help? It would certainly make interesting reading. |

Entitled to harrass people posting about issues they are having? Is that what you mean? Criticizing someone's tone and content is not harassment. It wasn't the message -- it was the delivery. |
The H Man | 09 Aug 2021 5:37 p.m. PST |
That's a crock. Who cares about the tone? It's the message that's important. Your going to come across a lot of different people. Especially different "consumers" with various "affairs". Some meek, some outraged, and everything in between. If your worrying about their delivery, your not reading for the right reasons. |
javelin98 | 12 Aug 2021 4:42 p.m. PST |
