This started from very beginings. I ordered a Dragon T34 and when it came it had a bonus of a BMW MC and a Kubelwagen, both rather nice. Got me thinking about other MC models so I did a bit of research and will write the comparison later. Meanwhile I made a dispatch rider to go with this the Italeri model.

Damn! A knowledgeable fellow on another forum has just informed us that this BMW was only ever fitted with a sidecar. Well I've learned something after nearly 50 years of ignorance. Italeri made the same mistake. But separate riders would still be very welcome … |

laretenue, Indeed been told that and its spot on. The solo version was the earlier R12 ( I think). It fits on the combo fine just havent got around to the sidecar passenger yet. L Zvezda do a R12 I believe as deos HAT I think. Rejected both because I dont like the 'disc' wheels but they perfectly fine models. |

Leon, I agree about the disk wheels – not for me. But I now seem to have a surplus of solo Italeri BMW bikes. Possibly I could graft the wheels onto a Zvezda frame. I have the HAT bikes too (bought for the rather scary riders), but they are way overscale. You don't actually make it clear whether you've just made this fellow for your own pleasure or mean to add him to your range. My fingers are crossed. |

laretenue, getting the Dragon bike ( which I still cant figure out what make/model of bike its meant to represent)just made me wonder about the availability of models and the viability of doing figures to fit. Theres a lovely Prieser Zundap ( hard to find, pricey and a fiddly build)and the Italeri ones which with a little bit of fettling makes up to a nice little thing. Thats about it really if like me you cant put up with disc wheels.( as far as I know that is, havent really looked at metal/resin ones that may be out there) I reckon the Italari ones are worth doing figures for so I'll do a small range I reckon. Music to my ears, Leon. I'm keen on the Italeri bikes too, but their riders are good only for DAK or the Med. |
