Battle of Elli – 3 December 1912: Averoff and the Retreads
The 1st Balkan war began with Greece and the Ottomans once more as foes. The Greeks made the first move seizing the islands of Tenedos, Lemnos, Samos, Athos and others in October 1912. The Ottoman fleet left the Dardanelles on December 3rd and was greeted by the Averof leading the Greek fleet.
Spartivento: The Cruiser Action – 27 November 1940
Italian reconnaissance has located the fast convoy that is part of British "Operation Collar" and by late morning a formation consisting of cruisers and escorting destroyers waits in ambush at a position roughly 30 miles South of Cape Teulada.

Deciding against an attack on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese launch a surprise invasion of the Philippines. The US Pacific Fleet moves to clear the way for the liberation of the Philippines beginning on Mindanao, culminating in the "decisive battle" for which both sides have planned.
Goeben Seeks Refuge in The Adriatic – August 1914
The German Naval Staff orders SMS Goeben and Breslau to Pola to support the Austro-Hungarian Navy. Royal Navy forces under Vice Admiral Milne attempt to intercept before they reach the safety of the Austro-Hungarian fleet, which has sortied to welcome their allies to the Adriatic Sea.
