With apologies as this is not remotely wargaming related. Indeed this is my first venture into 1/35 in four decades. Having made and shown Mort-Homme in 1/72 I was lucky enough to find an Asuka Sherman III on e Bay. I added the tracks from AFV club….assembled one by one by one……..I think T51s are right for the Liberation of Paris. Decals are by Braillestrike, now doing a wide range of 1/35 markings. The figures are a mixture of US tankers with French beret heads. Funny thing. Everyone who sees this prefers the 1/72 scale versions. There is probably as much detail on them, with bit of work;

Nice work. Reminds me of Verlinden's work and pictures from back-in-the-day. |

DH, this looks GREAT! I think this model looks as good as your other 1/72nd scale gems (and better to my eyes viewing your pics over the internet here), but as your wife and sons have commented, maybe that allure doesn't translate in-person. The tank is fantastic (geesh, look at that realistic hanging gear), but those faces are simply….human-like – top notch!!!

Wish they looked a bit more cheerful. This is meant to be 25th August 1944 and they have just entered and liberated Paris. I wonder if they somehow know that German is up there ready to chuck a grenade through the turret open hatch. Incredible that they all got out and that, with a replacement turret, Mort-Homme soldiered on until finally knocked out and still preserved, as a wreck. Thanks all. Much appreciated. I like the figures, but am not convinced by 1/35 for the tank itself. When we see what can be done in 1/144 and how tanks can be massed, I am convinced small is beautiful

Thanks all. The modelling was easy enough. I had to build up the right turret cheek and then attach the applique armour (which was of course a misunderstanding by the French engineers) plus close the pistol port off. The remnant of the right sandshield was correct for 25th August and I made the box on the rear with a camo net suspended. The turret kit is as near as I could get from the photo documentation, mostly in Greenstuff. The glacis plate weld marking on the left had a curious gap in every photo….and indeed does to this day. That was microstrip well dissolved with glue and turret was liberally coated with adhesive too, to roughen up the surface. But those tracks……. a full day's work. Appreciate the feedback esp as this is not remotely anything to do with wargaming! You are all very indulgent |
