Is it good news though? More rules and army lists making existing rules sets and army lists obsolete ad-infinitum? |

Well, from what they are saying is that the rules will be mix of 3rd through 8th and you can use the armies you already have no matter from what edition. There will always be rules and army list changes, but I am going to play the wait and see approach and see what it is all about when the time comes. AOS is not going anywhere. This just brings back the ability to play with larger armies. |

If there's one thing I re-learned with GW kicking Warhammer Fantasy to the curb is that you don't need a company chaining you to a set of rules that will regularly change based on their whims. I got into Fantasy gaming 45 years ago because there was a lot of wiggle room in attempting to create something that was fantastic, yet still plausibly reasonable. I've since gone back to that mindset (7th edition rules with a couple 8th edition "that's a good idea" exceptions. 6th edition army books with allowable (discontinued) units from every other edition. I am all for seeing new models & new units (as long as they can be integrated with the rules I'm using now) and we'll see what they come up with for rules. But it just feels like your ex showing up at the door all apologetic after she walked out on you years before. |

That link was from November 2019, saying this was 2+ years away. So that was 20 months ago. Wonder where GW is with this, or if they dropped the idea entirely. I never switched over to AoS. I would welcome The Old World back, but of course, it depends on what they do with it if I will get "back" into using their game system. |
