Happy Bastille Day to all and sundry.

And for all you diehards out there:

Vive l'Empereur.

No. It is a mascarade for a hollow shell, boneless and dying.

Yup! Let's hear it with a warm memory of the drums and heads rolling for the new Republic…Yaaaaay!

My wife and I were in Paris, France, on July 14, 2018, and got to see the flyovers, parades, and fireworks. It was a most enjoyable day.

However, to begin the flyovers, the first flight was trailing colored smoke in the French national colors. Oops.

I took these photos. Notice anything amiss?

Beautiful pictures John! "Anything amiss" is probably Notre-Dame's spire on the 1st picture. No merit for me as i work a few meters behind the trees line on this same picture's left.Vive la Nation, vive la République, and long life to all democracies in this world!

In 1984 it was wet and miserable, so I got to watch it on tv instead (that is, a Paris). The nightime fireworks were good tho looking from the 30th floor apartment I was sharing ;-) at Place d'Italie.

A bit like Richard III, he deserved his trip 'home'.

Vive la Republique.
My wife and I enjoyed Bastille Day. 1997. Lots of Cold War representation still. Met some Infantrie de la Marine and had drinks. Great weather, great time.

Vive la France!

I remember well my days in 1989 – the bicentennial, blistering heat in Paris, re – enacting sans culottes.

Looks like one canister of red smoke was mislabeled as blue. Or it's a case of you just can't get good help these days. But I'm sure the airman was up to speed on all his wokeness training.🤮

I got this 2021 Bastille Day photo from a friend who is in Paris. Was a rainy day, but all good!

In the first photo the leftmost plane is trailing red smoke. It should have been blue! Mon Dieu! C'est un vrai faux pas!
