This is mission 2 in a campaign following a British company through 1944 France. I am using 6mm forces and playing on a 3x4 grid on a A4 page. Yes, 12 squares on an page. I did this before in 2017.

Game 1 was loads of fun. I played the second game in March straight after the first game and I have already played two more games after this one so there will be more to come when I can find the time to write them up.

The UK mission is a exploiting a successful attack against a German armoured force. The battalion has broken through enemy lines. The company was held in reserve to exploit this breakthrough.

A full battle report is on the blog here:

A link to the rules I used is in the blog report.

Thanks for the AAR, Shawn, I will be following this campaign!

@mumbasa, Thanks. All I need is some more time to write up missions 3 and 4…and then time to play more missions.

Impressive example of very small space gaming!

Oh my goodness, Shaun! What a great fight, lots of fun, but damn! It was looking too easy when the Brits quickly occupied the objective house, but the German halftracks stormed in, pushed you back, then the MG-42 and Jgdpzr IV just burned it down. And now the Company Commander and a Lieutenant (Leftenant?) have been relieved??? Goodness….

We need more! ASAP!

V/R,
Jack

@Jack, I took the chance and made it to the house but the German entered and took it back. It was tense and exciting, even if the Brits lost. I am in the process of writing up number 3.

Shaun,

Yeah, I would have done the same thing. Just means we're both knuckleheads!!! ;)

And I agree, it absolutely was tens, wasn't sure which way it was going to break. Please let #3 be a Brit victory, morale is sagging!

And 20-30 minutes per game??? You should be cranking these out by the dozen! ;)

V/R,
Jack

"Should be 20-30 minutes a game" but take 1 1/2 hours. I thought too I would crank out a dozen of these by now.

I am tinkering with rules (for the Operation Jupiter games and ancients) rather than playing. It is like gamers that are too busy painting hundreds of figures that they don't have time to play :-)

You will have to wait to see if game 3 is a British victory, will not spoil the suspense.

The only thing holding up this train is… YOU! ;)

"It is like gamers that are too busy painting hundreds of figures that they don't have time to play"
Yuk-yuk, yeah, those guys suck ;) But check this out, you'll love it: I now have my 14-year old daughter and 12-year old boy painting for me!!! So I'm working on some BEF gear while my daughter is finishing up some Indian Army and my older boy is finishing up some Commonwealth troops for the Pacific! Just need to figure out something for my 7-year old boy to do ;)

V/R,
Jack

You have outsourced your painting to your children – well done! Pure genius.

I did get my sister-in-law to paint quite a few hundred 15mm ancients for me about 15 years ago when I had them in the lead pile but not the enthusiasm to paint them.

I can't think of a better use for an in-law! ;)

Quite genius, I suppose. They were looking for ways to make some money, so I offered it up. The boy is digging it but the young lady has discovered it's not for her. All I asked her to do was slap some paint on the basing material, but she was impatient and got it all over the uniforms and weapons and is not enjoying my withholding payment until she has fixed them…

V/R,
Jack
