As the author, readers should NOTE as for the French Regimental names entry (and for many others) – none were ever intended to be a serious study of the armies. The aim was solely to assist players of "Napoleon: Total War" who liked to rename their "units" after real-life ones. When this all started the availability of information was fairly limited (and I do acknowledge perpetuated inaccuracies/wrong information which we have all found out over the years as more information has become available over the internet).

The only regimental name study that became really serious was for Portugal as I got fed up reading so many conflicting (and as it turned out inaccurate) statements on the organisation of the army. In that case it was back to original Portuguese documents.

Sorry - only verified members can post on the forums.
