As you are looking at the front of the unit. Does the same apply to the British and other countries? I forgot. I haven't done Napoleonic's in a long time. |

At least in the British Army, the grenadiers were on the unit's right flank (being the "post of honor") and the lights were on the unit's left flank; which is why they are referred to as flank companies. For the French (and their allies) and Russians I believe it was the same. The above is delineated looking from the unit towards the enemy. The Prussians and Austrians typically combined several regiments grenadier companies into composite battalions leaving the line battalions (musketeers or fusiliers) with no elite companies. Jim |

Looking toward the front of the unit, from the viewpoint of the enemy as it were, the Grenadiers would be to the left. If you were a soldier stood in the ranks, your Grenadiers would be to your right… |
