I used to work with a guy who served in Vietnam. He was a weapons repair specialist. As such he frequently had to rotate between outposts, often by helicopter, often descending thru the canopy by rope.

He tells the story of how he had just penetrated the top of the canopy and ran smack into a monstrous snake. Instinctively, he threw his safety and riddled it. When he got a better look at it he could see that the snake had been shot to pieces and was long dead.

Apparently, everybody who'd been lowered before had had the same reaction. Woof

That stake trap reminds me of the scene in "The Green Berets" when one of the SF soldiers is punctured by a stake trap. Still makes me shudder.

Excellent pieces for your battlefield.

How do you keep the Bamboo straight? I've got some of the same, but it just seems to like flopping about
