I posted a few days ago about some new 1/1800 miniatures I bought from Blitzkrieg Miniatures. I primed them yesterday and got the base camouflage on, so after work today I decided to finish them off. I will say they were an absolute joy to paint.

My first two completed models are J/K/N class Royal Navy destroyers for various actions in the North Sea and the Channel. At around 2.5 inches long these seem perfect for small DD/CL actions.

I'm trying out some different sea base techniques with the clear acrylic ones which come with the models:

From the starboard bow:

And the port quarter:

Finally a comparison with one of my old 1/3000 Navwar sculpts of the same class:

I'm not sure if I'll use this scale for battleship/battlecruiser actions (though I will give it a go), but for smaller ships these have the visual appeal I've been looking for.

Great look but I started with 1/1200 and later went to 1/2400 scale ships. Will not start a new scale and buy the same ships for a third time.

Did go into 1/300 scale for my tactical ships though and the PTs and S boats look great. They also fit in well with my 1/300 scale landing craft that I already have.

Those do look very nice.

Thanks for sharing your pics.

Cheers for the comments guys, I've painted up a trio of Kriegsmarine Type 1936A destroyers now too, so hopefully they'll be in action soon.

Very nice looking models. :-)

(However I hate 1/1800 scale, which deviates from perfectly good pre-existing scales, merely as a marketing ploy).
