Does anyone sell plastic shields--just the shields? I have a box of 28 mm plastic infantry and the sculptor doesn't seem to have thought they need to carry shields. I want to use them as proper, close combat warriors, and they need to have shields for that. I have lots of metal shields, but the figures would probably be totally off balance if I used them. I need 36 of them.

In a more perfect world, I'd like to use shields that look like they were made out of rattan, woven reeds or something similar, rather than Viking style plywood shields with leather covers, but I realize I may have to settle for something else.

I hadn't thought of it earlier, but 3d printed shields would probably work. I'm totally unfamiliar with the whole 3d print market that has grown up.

If you can't find anything I can 3D print some.

I printed shield designs I found on the internet on card stock, cut them out and glued them to 6mm and 28mm figures that didn't have them. Do a web search for Notitia Dignitatum, etc. I use a program called Paintshop Pro that allows you to resize without losing definition of the shield design and reshape them (change circles to ovals and reverse).

It sounds like you want something you could make by pressing small balls of green stuff/milliput onto a suitably textured surface

Grelber: Look at the Fireforge Korean shields that came with the Mongol plastic sets. If those will work for you let me know and I'll look through my pile of plastic sprues and see how many I have. I didn't use any of them, so I probably have quite a few. TIG

tigrifsgt: If you mean the rectangular shields in the Steppe Warriors set, I've never seen anything like those. Thinking about it, though, they would work. How many do you have? What would you like in return? Do they have any detail on the back (I'm wondering about the possibility of cutting them down to half or three-quarters size for some of the troops)?

I'm curious to know who the figures are of?

I got a box of Wargames Atlantic's Lizardmen. Nice figures, but I want to give them pointy weapons, and they need shields to go with them. They also needed bases, but I have a bunch of bases I can use for them.
