The war winds are blowing hot again in Europe and the Far East, and disturbing accounts of espionage and sabotage by Fifth Columnists in those places are filling the newspapers. Recently, a series of unexplained fires and explosions in the dock and warehouse districts have raised fears that such a Fifth Column group may already be at work right here in Bay City, heightening the alarm in the press. Tonight, tipsters have provided information leading two local, and rival, leagues to the leafy old Mission district, where some nefarious clandestine operation appears, in fact, to be in progress…
This scenario was directly inspired by one of my all-time favorite movies, All Through the Night, which I watched again the other night to celebrate our first in-person game session in a year and a half (see After the Plague, down a few spots in the Pulp index page.)
