We've been having lots of fun with this. Wee Erchie Campbell has been playing havoc with James II's Royal Navy and after 3 battles in Scottish waters the canny Earl of Argyll has captured 9 Royal Navy ships including a 70 gun and now has his own Scottish Whig Navy.

I will say honestly, Jocknroll, that your work is truly inspirational. For years I have been happy with naval miniatures in a base coat, a wash and a drybrush but your work really shows what can be done.

I'm now spending so much more time picking out details when painting and have applied this to modern and aircraft miniatures too.

Cheers matey, and keep the inspiration coming!

Thanks All. I am glad it is providing some inspiration Nick. The saga of Archie Campbell has grown arms and legs. What will King Jimbo do next to control his rebellious noble?

He could offer him total command of the Royal Navy?
Especially as Argyll now owns most of it.

You are getting cocky Archie!

That's a beautiful set up! As a Campbell, it is a sight to behold.

Thanks – John, we keep calling it the 'final showdown' but, the next 'final showdown' is on Tuesday when Argyll will attempt to get Monmouth's defeated army off the Milford Haven strand in a Dunkirk style evacuation. No attacks from the Luftwaffe this time, their role is taken by… the Royal Navy! :)
