Passing this along:

URGENT MESSAGE from Rodger MacGowan, game industry Hall of Fame graphic artist –

You may have seen on FaceBook that they have shutdown the C3i Fans Facebook page. FB said it did not meet their 'Community Standards' even though what I post on C3i FB hasn't changed over the years – Day in History Banners, Game & Magazine Photos, Movie History, and Military History.

C3i hasn't changed over the years, but FB has changed. I've asked for specifics – Why? What exactly is wrong? etc. – but FB does not respond at all.

Therefore I've moved to a new site – the C3i Consimworld Community. Please join me here. Looking forward to your comments and photos. Please pass the word to your friends.

If possible let the fans at C3i FB know what had happened. FB blocks me so I can't inform our fans. Thanks!

FB either doesn't take down blatant violations or takes down perfectly innocent content and then won't explain.

This is why oligopolies are a bad idea all around.

The Facebook Stassi are alive, active, and censoring far too many.

I wonder if the new Iranian leader's posts, and/or those of his supporters have been censored?

It is sickening.

Very sorry to hear this, but glad your and your site are still alive and well.

Not surprised FecalBook arbitrarily bans users.

One more reason not to use fb unless absolutely
necessary

Why I don't have social media accounts. And survive quite nicely, thank you.

The FB group where gamers can sell their board games and miniatures is plagued with this as well. Anything with a German swastika or if it has Hitler in the name of the game/rules won't be posted. I think there are some on the FB management team that would like to pretend WW2 never happened.

Odd, I have exactly zero problems with Facebook and the posts I make for our gaming group. I find that all one need do is use common sense and there seems to be no problem.

No to all social media.

FB can't possibly review everything posted, it must operate on some kind of complaint basis. If this speculation is accurate, the reason one group can mention "H*tler" and even post historical images that include the counter-clockwise version of the Sanskrit for "to be good" without trouble, while in another group someone gets their feelings hurt and reports the whole group for the infraction.

This might remind you of other incidents.

Anyway, I hope the transition goes well.

I've never made the time to learn FB, so I don't use it. I don't think I've missed out on much. My wife uses it just a little and that's enough to keep me apprised of news of my friends. Sometimes I have to go through an extra step to get some content, but I am not motivated to dive in.

FB page FB rules sound familiar?

If that is the case than they shouldn't be protected by the government under section 230. Since they are no longer simply distributing content but have adopted heavy handed censorship.

Agree. They are now publishers with (capricious) editors, either live or bots. It's time for the Wild West to end.

BTW a few years ago just for kicks, I created a fake FB account with an insane persona that no one on this planet could possibly have or know. I never made one post, but within 15 minutes of creating it I started getting "friend" requests. It was hilarious. FB is pathetic. I deleted the account and waited the required *3 months* of not logging into it so the deletion would take effect permanently. (I doubt they really delete accounts.)

How about we just go back to the fairness doctrine?
