You were asked – TMP link – about a change to improve the way Auxilia perform in the game. 14% said "no, I would not support this change" 3% said "yes, I would support this change" |

Yes Auxilia are useful as is. I discovered this when playing Romans v Gallic warband. The warband can quick- kill legionaries but not Auxilia! Auxilia also good for tackling pesky Psiloi. |

This was play tested at one major tournament. The main criticism is that it didn't do enough to help poor Ax… For those interested…this as well as other proposed changes were explained in gory detail in Slingshot last year… Joe Collins |

Bringing back the break-off would help out Ax. You could give them side support (in good going and vs certain foot) to make them more resilient as a kind of 2nd rate foot. Having done that you'd then need to look at the Wb vs Ax interaction, and Wb generally …. Have fun. |

Yes, the change I proposed brings back the break off in a different way. Side support for 4aX (heavy auxilia) isn't a bad idea as well. The trick is to lengthen their survival time against heavy foot and pike… not to let them win… but to let them survive longer. They are already quite good against cavalry… though they suffer against knights. Joe Collins |

Which Slingshot? I had a gap in my membership…. My thought was to have the option (Mark as closed up with pony beads?) to treat them as Solid 4Sp (and Maneuver as such) in good going, opening up to become "Ax" at need. No one to play with regularly to test this. |

Slingshot 324, May/June 2019… It is unfortunately sold out… You can however find the article here… link It is in French. Joe Collins |

I like DBA 3 as is and would not change anything. I do make certain specific changes when recreating historical battles. |
