I'm finding all kinds of uniform colors. The April 9th movie has them in brownish, Funcken has them in dark green, and web searches show light green. What have you done? |

Brown with the marines in black. |

Surely you mean Danish? In any case, the mix of uniforms is succinctly explained in Hitler's Blitzkrieg Enemies. Apparently only a few units were issued the khaki uniform. Most had to make due with light grey uniforms issued earlier during WWI. Dutch uniforms on the other hand are truly bewildering. Very difficult to get the right tinge of blue if you choose not to go full on field grey. |

For Dutch German Uniform from Vallejo is a really good match. If you mean Danes, I haven't got to those yet. |

I thought the Vallejo German uniform looks good with what I found on the web. I'm not doing Denmark at this time. |

BTW – as I understand it, when I said Dutch I meant the people living in the Netherlands. I believe they speak Dutch. The natives of Denmark are referred to as Danish. I'm no expert, so if I am incorrect please let me know. It can all be a little confusing. Thanks, Vince |

But you mentioned April 9th, a movie about the invasion of Denmark… |

That's right Vince, it can all be a little confusing given that the Dutch language sounds nothing like Danish. Never mind the fact that the two armies looked completely different from one another, and fielded very different armaments. |

Thank you for the kind words. |

You must not be too contrite here. We can all understand this. From over the Pond it must be so confusing. The people who occupy the shores opposite the English Kentish coastline have been called so many names. Belgian, Dutch, Hollanders, Netherlanders (North and South), Low Countries, Flemish, Walloons, I can think of several more, all for what Disraeli called "The Cockpit of Europe". But none of them were Danish. Those folk live much further East, stuck on top of what is now Germany. The Danes are of of no wargaming interest, well not in 1940 anyway. They did later mount the best Jewish escape of any country in WWII however. The Italians might contest that I know. The Japs beat the lot. Funny old world. |

Not to double down on my own ignorance, but is was Reptilicus that attacked Denmark or did I get that wrong as well? |

I too was confused by that April 9 reference. That is an excellent movie about the German invasion of Denmark. Here's perhaps the equivalent for the Netherlands. YouTube link I did my Dutch soldiers in a green but they were KNIL troops. I looked at pictures of the regular army and they were sort of bluish. The miniatures page is always a good reference for such information TMP link |

"The Danes are of of no wargaming interest, well not in 1940 anyway. " Au contraire. The Invasion of Denmark is a fabulous little mini campaign with all sorts of interesting stuff going on. Being deeply lazy and unfjussy, I just have a bunch of generic interwar/early war infantry in 'khaki' uniforms and grey helmets who spend most of their time fighting in Spain but have been known to be French, Dutch, Danish, Norwegien, Belgian, Rumanian, Bulgarian, Yugoslav or whatever other country I fancy. They even sometimes pretend to be early Italians in Adrian helmets. Mix in a few approriate vehicles and guns (which provide the nationality specifics) and off you go. So much quicker to paint… |

Bob, thanks for the link. I must have missed it in my search. |
