It's all well and good putting together the forces I need to play in 12mm, but it does mean I also need the terrain. Having looked around to see what's available in terms of buildings in 10/12mm I've decided to scratch built my own (for now at least). I've done this using foamcore and put together a tutorial on how I made them. I'm really pleased with how quickly these have come together. The cost has been negligible as I've used materials to hand, but best of all I can custom build them to work best for the rules I want to use (IABSM and O Group) and my basing.

The tutorial is here Scratch building in 12mm

Wonderful job on those buildings and the tutorial… and from my point of view, quite timely. So, thanks for posting.

I normally game WWII at the stand-equals-platoon level and use 6 x 6 urban blocks consisting of 12mm and N-scale buildings to represent the built up area. This approach helps to mitigate the difficulty some players have with using a single building to represent an urban area; the falling into the 1:1 mindset. I didn't really want to spend much more on buildings and could use a couple more blocks for my France '44 gaming. Hopefully my foamcore isn't too thick to work at the 12mm-ish scale.

I believe your tutorial could be used for making 20mm-60mm terrain, easily. Impressive results. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Nice ruins which look playable. Bravo. Like the Dubonnet poster.
