Greetings, this could go for any WAB book I guess but I happen to have the ECW book in front of me at the moment.

My question is as follows;

When putting together a unit there are various options such as the type of armor you can add. If the list states "+2" for heavy armor, is that +2 cost per model or +2 for the entire unit to get the upgrade.

Thanks for any help with this. I'd like to put this game back into my circulation.

With Warhammer the cost is always per figure. So a unit of 10 men with heavy armour is an extra 20 PTS.

With Warhammer the cost is always per figure.

At least unless otherwise stated. I don't have my WAB books with me now, but I think there are a few where you pay fixed points for upgrading a whole unit – perhaps the stakes in Armies of Chivalry?

Also, points for upgrading a model to musician or standard/ensign are for upgrading a single model in the unit – so this cost is not dependent on the size of the unit.

Well technically the standard, leader and musician upgrade costs are per figure it's just you are only allowed one of each per unit.;)

Interestingly in fantasy Warhammer for a long time the standards and musicians where double the cost of a normal figure after upgrades yet in historical Warhammer they just made it an upgrade cost of around 5pts.

Good point about the standards and musicians. Indeed, it was WAB that first introduced a fixed points cost (5 points per model) for them.

This practice was picked by Warhammer Fantasy Battle starting with the 6th edition (released year 2000), though the army lists there tended to vary the cost of the command models depending on the unit type, so e.g. spearmen on foot might pay +10 points for standard while mounted knights might pay +16 points for the same upgrade.

I do not have by WECW book at hand, but I think the army lists there can also vary the costs for command upgrades a bit depending on the unit type.
