The resounding reply was "Soviet tank company commanders spring to mind---" and so it was!

We played this action last week, and the Tigers rolled on --- and over the frozen Soviet strong points, and ultimately towards their Manych River bridge objective -

The scenario was more of a raid, with the German mission requiring them to push into the Soviet bridgehead, and to secure, then destroy the bridge to prevent further exploitation by the enemy.

The Soviet players were beginning to discern that the PanzerPioneers were perhaps a key part of contesting the crossing (or that their halftracks were at least vulnerable to their AT fire), that towards the end of the game Soviet reinforcements were starting to position themselves to engage them.

By this time, the short winter light was beginning to set over our battlefield (we had to pack up and hit the road – some players with a 2 hour ride 'back north' ahead of them), so the game was never concluded.

It is certain though, that the Tigers made no fans on the opposite side.

Hard cheese for the T-34 jockeys! Great minis and terrain

The answer to the original question is anyone fighting them.

What a great looking terrain mat, buildings, and minis.

Thanks for sharing your game report and photos.

Myself, I love Tigers: they probably shortened the war by six months and saved the lives of tens of thousands of Allied soldiers.

"Deadly when you can actually get one to the battlefield" is not necessarily the same as "good use of limited national resources" though the distinction is frequently lost on miniature wargamers.

That said, great looking game and good report.

That is a great looking game! What scale minis are those and what rules did you use, FlyXwire?

Thank you all for checking out the thread, and for taking the time to respond too!

Pete, these are 1/144th scale minis, and the rules are a [total conversion] mod of Bolt Action scaled to play with squad stands, and with platoon action orders being pre-placed, then activated IGOUGO – I've been calling it "Blitz Action".

Thanks for the information, FlyXwire!
