Work continues on my, African savanna, modular gaming board for my Darkest Africa gaming. Having finished the flat and dirt track tiles a while back that can be seen here

I moved onto the hill tiles

I have also completed my first river (more of a stream really) tile. This was a test piece to try out some things before I built all the required river tiles.

Excellent!

Where did you get your 1' x 1' tiles from Jon?

Prince Rupert of the Rhine06 Jun 2021 11:53 p.m. PST

Hi Jim they are Sally 4th terraforma tiles not the cheapest but lots of choices in tiles and being laser cut far more accurate than my homemade attempts in the past. They are also magnetised with earth magnets (supplied with the kit) so when you place them together they stay stuck and don't move around.I really like them.

Color choice for flock and paint seems spot on, very nice look to that.

Those look great.

After completed, how much does each of the tiles weigh?

Prince Rupert of the Rhine07 Jun 2021 3:32 a.m. PST

Thanks guys.

WarWizard@ I haven't weighed one but they aren't particularly heavy individually. The bulk of each tile is polystyrene with a 3mm MDF edge around it. The water feature tiles are a bit heavier because they have a lump of resin in them.

They look very effective. I'll take a look.

That is very good! You are willing to take more time for terrain than I ever have. Thank you for posting.
