OK! As any classical Greek could tell you, Clio inspires epic and history, while Calliope inspires musicians. What muse inspires the creation of rules and scenarios? Me for Bellona. Other nominations? |

I assume we're not limited to the nine Muses: Kallichore, Helike, Eunike, Thelxinoë, Terpsichore, Euterpe, Eukelade, Dia, and Enope? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muses |

Bellona would seem sensible:

WE HAVE A MUSE?!?!? Well, I am impressed!!! I'd probably be even more impressed if I knew what a muse was. |

The way I roll dice, it would have to be Melpomene, the muse of tragedy. Grelber |

No stodgy greek muses for me, someone more modern, more contemporary. Ah, Forrest Gump is perfect.
For those well designed scenarios where anything can happen.
For those games when EVERYONE is shooting at you, including your friends. Well maybe he is more a meme than a muse, still works though. |

The inspiration that got me into wargaming was Airfix. |

Definitely Terpsichore, the way I dance around with no visible results. Of course that could be due to Bacchus. Terpsichore and Bacchus seldom result in harmony, particularly in the good ole USA. |

"I assume we're not limited to the nine Muses?" Well, probably not, since I claimed Bellona. But you'll notice Bill's link lists alternate lists of three, four and seven and variant names even for those holding to nine. (What have you done with Clio and Urania, for instance?) After more than two thousand years, I think we can cut ourselves a little slack. |

Peter Pig figures and rules all day every day. |

Point, Billy. But on an uninspired day, do you really want to say "the Pig has left me?" OFM, remember your Cicero: "no sober man dances, unless he happens to be insane." |

You would think Clio (muse of history) but when it coes to my gaming Melpomene (muse of tragedy or as noted above calamity) |

"Sing, O Muse, of the rage of Achilles, of Peleus' son, murderous, man-killer, fated to die, sing of the rage that cost the Achaeans so many good men and sent so many vital, hearty souls down to the dreary House of Death. And while you're at it, O Muse, sing of the rage of the gods themselves,…" from "Ilium" by Dan Simmons A work of fiction which I think wargamers would like. |
