AAR report of the first game in my mini campaign is at:

Two company sized BAOR formations defending against two soviet battalions on the North German plain.

Great game – thanks for sharing

Enjoyed that report. Good luck with round two!

The other two Soviet thrusts have entered the campaign map through undefended tables. BAOR formations are racing to defendable points in their line now they know where the Russian main lines of advance are. Watch this space for the next thrilling instalment.

Nice.

What rules, may I ask?

Thresher0124 May 2021 11:28 p.m. PST

Looks like fun.

Thanks for sharing your post and pics.

FFT is Fist Full of Tows, I suspect, for the rules.

Elenderil25 May 2021 4:32 a.m. PST

Yes the rules are Fistful of Tows 3. Fast to play and decisive.

Great looking game.

Nicely done. Yeah, we figured at the time company vs battalion--winnable given a quality edge for NATO. I was never convinced we'd get it. It assumed we'd have the same percentage of our assets at the decisive point, which is pretty optimistic when you don't have the initiative. And it assumed we'd mobilize and deploy promptly, instead of lagging so as to be sure, and in order not to undermine the famous Kremlin doves, which I regarded as equivalent to not frightening off the unicorns.

Very glad that particular war passed into the "alternate history" category.

You and me both Robert. This would have been ‘my' war as I was in the U.K. territorial army at the time. I'd have been in the line some where around Hannover with not much more than ‘home guard' quality of training. Our job was pretty much to act as a speed bump while hoping for reenforcements. Thank God it never happened.

A great looking battle and report, and indeed useful in motivating me to get some terrain finished so I can start using my painted micro armour more frequently!

Great AAR. Thanks for sharing.

It's inspired me to run a Cold War 1980's game. I dug out my copy of "First Clash." Great book.

Next up: Canadians vs. Soviets.
