link Hope this works and stays around long enough to be of use. Amazing 1/700 scale model of Hue in a HCMC back garden. Worth a look if the link works. EDIT link Someone added the link to the original article – all in VNese but you can use google translate to get a fair idea. And mostly it's pictures. |

It is quite amazing to see what he has constructed. He has most of the Imperial Palace, the south riverside with the flagpole and I do love the gate tower in one image. Seeing this brings home just how big the whole Citadel is (never been and always intended to). Even at 1/700 scale I suspect many on this forum could not resist creating a "less peaceful scene". A terrific find, thankyou.

I'm not sure the scale is correct at 1/700, btw. I have been once. May go again when we can travel more freely. They are running steam trains up the coastal railway to Hue, and a friend has a bar selling craft beers too. So, it may make a nice outing. |

Looks to be more like 1/70 scale? Maybe a misprint by the journalist…. |

a friend has a bar selling craft beers Can you still get Tiger Tail? Wolfhag |

Tiger Tail? I don't think so. Huda is the standard brand in Hue. La Rue is DaNang. Bia Saigon is from Saigon [duh] – not easy to find here. Hanoi beer is the best [Czech style rather than French] also hard to find. Tiger is a popular import and I often choose that. But craft beers are gaining in support. Heart of Darkness is one company doing a wide range and we have 7 Bridges in DaNang who are also good. The price of craft beers is 3-5x that of local ones [local are 20,000 – 30,000 vnd (~ $1 USD USD) a can while the crafts are 70-100k a bottle.] but they do have more flavour. The local brands are just to get drunk really. |
