What do you prefer? Painting 2 x 15mm armies- enough figures for a game 3-4 players – or 15 large scale models 2-3.5 inches in height? |

2 x15mm and get the game going! |

I think I'd go nuts trying to paint 15 models, unless they were tanks or aircraft. Slap some paint on those figures and get them on the table. If it is 15 tanks, I'll slap some paint on those too (the last batch of Russian ones were considerably bigger than 3 inches long. I do love a T28) |

Neither. I play fantasy games using 25mm-30mm figures. I have multiple armies, varying in sizes: Giants are rather large, depending upon which race of Giants. I have also painted some Dragon figures, which are 5"+ in length and width. I prefer to paint whatever army I need/want, regardless of figure size (I select figures which are of the appropriate size for said creatures). I painted 180+ Goblins, 1/72 scale, as they match up, size-wise, to what Gary Gygax described for them in his 1977 1e AD&D Monster Manual, compared to a 25mm, "6-foot tall", Human. I also game with 54mm-60mm Army Men figures, which I paint. Size is not a question as to what I will paint, or what I prefer to paint -- I prefer to paint whatever size figures I need for my armies, for my games. To date, I have painted 1,000+ miniatures, and I am still painting. Cheers! |

2 armies 2 different spray can colors and start playing, you can paint stuff later if you really must but playing comes first. 15 large figures spray top different to bottom if desperate but one colour would do. Just imagine its a dark misty day so the colour does not show at a distance. |

2 armies. I try to build both sides of conflicts that intrigue me. |

Show me the figures--and tell me how many 15mm figures are "enough for a game with three or four players." |

Good question but probably the 15mm figs – unless you mean a bunch of 28mm figs for the larger ones |

I'm more of a painter than a player. Probably spend 10 times as many hours painting but some of that has been lack of opportunity. Do some 15mm (DBA early medieval) and a few 28mm & 20mm but mostly 10mm & 6mm with a significant amount of 2/3mm as well. Can't get excited over large figures but turning out armies is better done in the smaller scales IMHO. Would not put monochrome figures on a table but have played with base coloured figures on someone else's table where we were testing out a ruleset's ability to deal with large armies. |

Since I'm exclusively a 15mm player, you know my preference |

Yep, I think I find large scale well made models a bit daunting. Much prefer batch painting smaller figures. 15mm armies for 6-8 players: About 160 mounted figures, 300 foot, 4 artillery pieces and crew (I was cutting back on spending). |
