Hello everyone, In its range Trojan War in 28 mm, Redoubt miniatures sells as allies to the Trojans, 5 references of Lukka warriors (Lycian people)… But unlike many Sea Peoples the Lukka appearance is not know? I say this because I find that these 5 references of Redoubt miniatures Lukka warriors represent more of the Philistines. If you think you know what the Lukka look like, show us that… Otherwise what types of chariots the Lukka and the Philistines used ..? There are some indications in the books but I would prefer illustrations, thank you. What other factories would offer chariots and figures for the Lukka and / or the Philistines? Thank you to those who can post pictures of figurines , especialy of Lukka warriors… Thank you. |

Thank you Kevin C, Ah well the Lukka have the same headgear as the Peleset, Tjekker and Denven? |

Paskal, The Lukka appear to wear the same 'feather' or 'crown' headdress as the Peleset, Tjekker (Trojans) and Denven (Dardanians) link Most illustrations I've seen, for instance from the Osprey 'Sea Peoples' book show these peoples in the same headgear. My guess is that it would be a cultural aspect. Regarding illustrations, 'Uncle Google' is your friend: link Regarding chariots – that's a tricky question. Most miniature manufacturers seem to use the 'wooden' box chariot, at least in 28mm. I don't know of any manufacturer who uses the 'rail' chariot. Furthermore, it's difficult to say what chariots the Lukka used (if any). It's always been assumed that the Lukka fought like the Trojans – with chariots but the Lukka seem to have been sea raiders more than anything else and were known in the Bronze Age as pirates. Since there are some indications that at least some of the Sea Peoples settled in Philistia were the Peleset and some argue that the Tjekker and Lukka also settled in Philistia, I would guess that any 'crown'-helmeted figures would work for Philistines. Chariots for the Philistines – as with the Lukka, it's hard to say what chariots the Philistines or the later Canaanites had, as the archeology just hasn't produced any records of what they looked like. That's horrible for history but great for wargame armies, as you can field whatever you want (within reason) and no one can argue with you. |

Thank you Swampking, The Lukka seem to wear the same headdress of `` feathers '' or `` crown '' as the Peleset, Tjekker (Trojans ?) and Denven (Dardanians ?), yes and that is why the sculptor of the masters of the Trojan War 28 mm range of Redoubt enterprises had given this type of helmets to his Lukka and his Prince Aeneas of the Dardanians … But in fact the appearance of the Lukka and Dardanians is not certain and moreover some have written that the Lukka may not have been the ancestors of the Lycians … Me too most of the illustrations that I have seen in the Osprey book 'Sea Peoples', show these peoples in the same headgear … As far as chariots are concerned, this is indeed a delicate question. Most of the Sea Peoples did not use chariots, and when later some of their descendants did use them, it would seem that they would be identical chariots in the style of those of the Hittites and especially not "rail" wagons. Yes it's true it's horrible for history and for me just as much for wargame armies, because I can't line up what I would like, closer to the truth … |
