I just received my copy of Peter Dennis's book of paper ECW forces, which I bought mainly for the buildings and flags. What lunatic laid this book out? In order to use the pages, they actually have to be recopied onto card, as they are printed in such a way that back and front don't match!!!

The whole idea is that you don't have to destroy the book to create the armies &c., but can make as many copies as you need. Also, the copies are intended to be made onto paper and the two layers, front and back, glued together to create a figure that is rigid enough to stand upright, but thin enough to be easy to cut out.
You can also reduce the size when copying to make smaller scale figures. I've created 10/12 mm troops in this way quite easily.

I expected nice heavy card buildings that I could pop out and build.

This is an outstanding book. I currently have 72 double sized bases of shot and pike… plus a ton of mounted and dragoons built and flocked. I downloaded the 3d cannons from the website and they are wonderful to build… though it does take some practice and gluey fingers.

The beauty of the book is that you can produce as many of the soldiers as you want… just copy them to 30lb paper.

You can also scan the pages and load them into a paint program to change the figs. I have added armor to the pikemen, added helmets to some of the shot. I have also produced green, purple, and black coated regiments.

All great fun.

Just watch Peter's video on his website.

There is no reason to destroy the book to build troops.

I plan on doing the buildings next… though I think I will ask the printshop in Office Depot to print them on 80lb paper.
