I despair brothers and sisters!! I would like to add a character to my skirmishing (when I skirmish rather than fight larger battles). I have searched the web generally, and evil-Bay and Etsy specifically, in vain for a suitable 28mm figure that would serve for the well-known "trope" of "The White Haired Witch." Given the gazillion films made about the character, I do not get it! Just last night I was "easily" able to watch, via YouTube, the most, or certainly ONE of the most recent -- The White Haired Witch (2020), with an actress unknown to me in the starring role -- Huang Yi. The film, aka The Wolf Witch or Bai Fa Mo Nü Wai Chuan, for anyone NOT familiar, is another take on the novel, The Story of the White Haired Demoness. The character has been portrayed rather recently by Fan Bingbing in The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom (2014). The character has even figured in at least ONE film NOT specifically about the witch per-se. This was as the "wolf witch" portrayed by Li Bingbing opposite Jackie Chan and Jet Li in The Forbidden Kingdom (2008). SO… Any help? Any ideas? I am not a sculptor, so forget making one myself with "green stuff" or other modelling putty. |

I have no idea who the character is, but I'm pretty sure you could find something suitable at Reaper's website, reapermini.com |

It seems like you're after more of a female wizard type rather than the typical Halloween hag. If so, Dark Sword may have what you want. They come unpainted so you can paint them up to resemble the ones from the movies you mention. link link |

There might be something in the Malifaux Ten Thunders faction. Is she different from The Bride with White Hair? |

If you can not find none then you must have found at least one … |

Brother Skrapwelder! The main character -- usually labelled "Lian Nichang," and styled in the various films as "White Haired Witch," "Wolf Witch," etc. -- also features in your The Bride with White Hair (1993). Like in Romance of the White-Haired Maiden (1995), and White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom (2014) that I already mentioned, Bride with White Hair is INDEED another take on the "wuxia" novel by Liang Yusheng. I shall take a look at the Malifaux "Ten Thunders" faction as you suggest. I am not familiar with Malifaux. I DO "know" of it -- I see the boxes on the shelf at my "Local." Just looking online, there is one figure that might work -- "Chiaki the Beacon." I would need to make some minor modification (e.g., figure out how to hint at a sword in a sheath/scabbard on her back, while removing the staff). However, I got the impression that these Malifaux figures are more like 35mm (or even 38MM)? That'd be a bit BIG to fit in with more "normal" 28mm figures I would be using for the "mere mortals" in a game? Would they not?? Frederick -- thanks for the "reminder" about Hasslefree! I think "Lenore" might make a better match for Lian Nichang:
Hasslefree's "Riasa" with the "staff/weapon" (which I would replace with a blade) that you suggest MIGHT work. Might -- if she weren't so provocatively baring so much THIGH!! Oh MY!!! Oh, and also wearing high heels! STILL, maybe I would get one anyway and allege in my games that she were "wearing a disguise!" |

Major B!! OMG!!! I spent so much time making (or trying to make) myself clear in the TEXT, I did NOT see the double-negative in my TITLE>>>>>>>>>> "Need a 28mm 'White Haired Witch' -- but can not find none!" Sigh! Well, I can not EDIT the title now. SO, I will simply plead with all and sundry here to accept my ABJECT APOLOGY!! Please read the title of the thread AS: "Need a 28mm 'White Haired Witch' -- but can not find ONE!" |

Can't you just paint the hair of any witch miniature white? |
Come In Nighthawk | 14 May 2021 7:03 p.m. PST |
"Any witch" painted w/ white hair? I think that would lack the "ambience" or "mystique" of an Asian female -- or "Asian-looking" enough… It just wouldn't be the same!! |

The sculpture should be a swordswoman with long straight hair that can be painted white. The film versions show her in dress and silk robes. I've only seen The Bride with White Hair (1993) but the character Lian Nichang is from a book. Here's the book summary: Baifa Monu Zhuan link Here's a still from a review of one of the films: White Haired Witch (2015)
Come In Nighthawk, it's quite pathetic how scarce such a figure is, basically a woman in full dress with no skin showing holding a sword. I found a Dark Sword Geisha Assassin: link Even looking for fantasy female wizards to replace a staff doesn't work out as well as you'd think because they tend to have skin showing (bare arms or bosom or midriff or legs or combination). HassleFree's Apprentice Raisa has open hands and no staff to remove, though as you note for the other version, she has bare thigh and tiptoe slippers: link |

Villager: We have found a witch, may we burn her? Crowd: BURN!! BUUUURN HER! Bedevere: But how do you *know* she is a witch? Villager: She looks like one! Other Villagers: Yeah! She looks like one!!! But seriously casting room rangers? link Or warrior women including wizard without flesh showing link |

Huscarle: BM10015 Wu Ling Shu from Bombshell Babes? That is a nice figure! The armor bits and pants with boots are different from the film versions, but that is a more practical attire for a swordswoman and the sculpt definitely has Asian elements. Cerdic: What about Bad Squiddo? Nice! In The Feudal Japan range, The Widows set has a possibility: linkAlso Lady Ichika set: linkIn ShieldMaidens, Dagmar could be used except it's one piece so the shield would have to be removed. linkAnd in Amazons, the Amazon Princesses set: link |
