So i became interested in putting together a 28mm army to represent the Delhi Sultanate around the time of the Mongol invasions.

I was looking into what miniatures might work as substitute Indians.

Looking at the "Swordpoint" army list for this time period I would need the following troop types:

- Elite Cavalry
- Hindu Cavalry
- Muslim Cavalry
- Hindu Archers
- Hindu Spearmen
- Muslim Infantry (Javelins, Throwing Spear, Bow)
- Handgunners
- Elephants
- Rocket Launcher

Ideas for substitutions:

For Elite and Muslim Cavalry I was thinking about using Seljuk Heavy Cav w/ helmets. The Elite Cav with barding, the Muslim Cav w/out barding

For Hindu Cav I was thinking about using Mamluk Heavy Cav from the same period.

For Hindu Foot I was looking at Arab Foot with Turbans. Maybe Medieval Afghans too.

Muslim Infantry, Elephants and Rockets are pretty straight forward.

Muslim Handgunners who aren't Jannisaries are kinda sparse for some reason but I'm sure there's a code out there somewhere.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed. Again, I'm only looking at 28mm right now and only for the period roughly covering 1200 up to Timurs invasion in 1398.

Thanks!

You should look at Indus Miniatures (http://indusminiatures.mybigcommerce.com/). Not a very large line but they do have some interesting figures. I have been painting them for colonial wars against the Portuguese in 16th century. Eureka US also has a few usable figures in the Colonial Line.

I do enjoy their miniatures very much Skeets. They're just too small a range currently for a big project.

I'd use Essex Mediaeval Persians for the Elite and Muslim cavalry. They also have a Mamluk arquebusier who might pass as a Delhi handgunner.
