Does anybody make 1920s-1930s Shanghai Municipal Police in 28mm? I've been reading about William Fairbairn, and thought it might be fun to model and run a team of Shanghai police. My understanding is that they wore more or less standard British style dark blue police uniform. Initially, this included helmets, but they were replaced by wheel hats for the 20s and 30s. Sikh members wore red turbans, which would probably require a head swap. They may have worn white or light khaki uniforms with shorts in the summer. I've Googled the police, but the dark blue uniforms come out as black and subdue any details they might have, so any comments or assistance with uniform details would be appreciated, too. Grelber |

Kevin C--I had never heard of Black Army Games. Thank you very much for the link! 79th PA--The University of Bristol China photograph collection is very impressive! Way more great photos thre than I have had a chance to look at. The photo of the police you provided is very good, and actually shows details without being washed out in a sea of black. I also notice there are two patterns of turbans, neither of which appears to be red, though two turbans seem to have a red hanging end. Many thanks for the links and the photo! Grelber |

A note on Photos, If the film is Orthochromatic then yellow come out as black or very dark , red as a grey tone, and blue is a lighter grey. It is difficult to know what film was used on older photos. Orthochromatic gets used up through ww2 and the new Panchromatic getting more popular after WW1. So…. your red turbans may be comming out as a grey if the photographer used orthochomatic film. |

Darrell B D Day--I need to see if I can get that through interlibrary loan! pvernon--I recall an Osprey with an old b&w photo where the yellow was very dark, now that you mention it. It's a good thing this is all in the "just thinking about it" stage, and I haven't put paint to metal. Thanks very much to both of you! I'm totally new to using China as a backdrop to my games. I also don't know much about old film. Grelber |

I looked into inter-library loan, and learned the nearest available copy was at the Stockholm, Sweden library, which probably wouldn't want to lend it to somebody in Colorado Springs, certainly without a significant charge. Grelber |

Darrell B D Day--No, not at this time. I'm just looking into the possibility of doing a Pulp game group. I do wish it had been available through interlibrary loan, i.e., free, so I could decide whether or not I really want it. Thank you for the offer, though. I'm sorry I didn't see it until this evening. Grelber |
