Medals years and decades after the facts are sort of ridiculous. They should be done fast, or lose meaning. Like medals for just being a survivor of the period at 90 devalorises the medal of those who actually did something outstanding back then could have received it or did. Another thing which modern politicians and unfortunately soldiers have emptied of their contend. |

I disagree. My dad didn't get his Purple Heart until something like 12 years after he was wounded. The award was not ridiculous or absent of meaning. |

I believe there was a limit put in place before D-Day even happened, a quota for each division of how many Medals of Honor would be "handed out". Thus Dick Winters of Band of Brothers fame was denied one. Quite a few other heroes were denied because their division already had its quota. Ah, bureaucracy. |

In my time I have been awarded medals that I don't believe I deserved. This has been balanced for the times I really went above and beyond and received nothing. I believed that anyone who has served long enough has had similar experiences. As to COL Puckett, I salute you Sir! |

Winters didn't get his MOH because he pissed the Army head historian S.L. Marshall off. Winter didn't want to do the interview with him and he insisted. When Marshall wrote his book on D-day he revered Winters & Nixon roles on June 6th. |
