Howdy,

Starting a new mini-campaign entitled Border Wars – Byzantium fights in the East. This initial game will start at 501 AD and is a contest between the Byzantines and the Sassanid Persians.

Howdy,

The miniature rules to be used with the campaign are So Convenient for Hewing available from lulu.com . With Covid rampant this past year, it has been a challenge to promote the rules; which were published in May 2020.

I for one will be interested in reading more about your campaign system. Looks intriguing, especially since our group is using "Commands & Colors – Medieval" for a series of games using 15mm miniatures in place of the wooden blocks provided by the game system.

Howdy,

Units in the campaign are either Scouts, Garrisons, or Armies. Each unit has a third of the available units as veterans. Individual units selected based on random draw.

An action deck is used to control campaign actions. Actions include: Move, Scout, Engage, and Rally.

In addition, each turn both sides get cards from the supply deck. The supply deck has 54 cards (regular playing card deck with two jokers). There are 26 supply cards, 13 bogus supply cards, and 15 event cards.

Event cards include: Sea Move (3 cards), Storms at Sea (2), Efficent Staff (2), Truce (2), Disease (2), Good Harvest (2), and Good General (2).

As cards are drawn from the action deck, players will choose how much supply to allocate, and their specific orders.

One campaign turn is one complete round through the action deck.

That's a brief introduction, more to come …

Howdy,

Howdy,

We are going through the deployment process now. Both players have identified their campaign objectives. The campaign play and deployments are double-blind. So the players have limited intelligence about the locations and composition of enemy forces.

I'll post a summary of the relative starting positions as we begin play.

Ponder on,

JAS
