But I'm lazy and cheap. (Oh. You already knew that, did you?) Anyway, does anyone know of any cheap plastic toys which would give me suitable vehicles for a 28mm ambush game? Believe me, you really don't want to see the results if I have to turn eight stick deodorants into GEVs. Really badly-made toys would still be a step upward. |

I was going to recommend some metal casters, lots of good choices there, but they don't meet your criteria. So, option 2… If you have access to a wood shop or tools, slice up a 2x4, route out some bits to give them some shape then paint. Option 3.. There are die cast vehicles out there, around 1:48 scale that should work (think large Hot Wheels). I'll have to search for specifics, though. |

That's odd, my previous post looks like it's in 2 different sizes. Is antibody else seeing that? |

I'd hit up the local Dollar Store – prime black, paint and weather and it'll be alright on the day. Don't confine yourself to one line of thinking, either – you could gubbin up a cheap Xmas train set for a sci-fi narrow-gage RR; cut/chop/gubbin up truck cabs to make robotic-driven vehicles; or throw a bunch of crates on the backs of dinosaurs for a jungle-planet beast convoy. |

Check the toddler age range toy trucks. They are cheaper and have simplified lines which can look fairly sci-fi when repainted. Windshields, molded on doors, and steps or rails are the primary indicator of scale – if those can be altered quite a few vehicles can work. |

I don't have much to add to the comments made above. Ambushing an 8 GEV convoy at 28mm scale puts a lot of action on the table. Looking forward to the AAR. |

Consider cheap rover models as roller recon and defense drones. +1 on the dollar store idea. Also, some areas have 2nd hand toy stores, and Good Will will have a 2nd hand toy section. Both could be fertile ground. I bought a gigantic treaded multistory scifi vehicle at a 2nd hand toy store and kitbashed it into a Jawa Sandcrawler. It was grand. |

Robert, I have been cleaning out and sorting out projects to keep and sell. I happen to have started a convoy project. I was preparing to put them up on the FB Wargames Buy Sell site. I would just as soon send them to a fellow TMPer. 4 – tanker trucks bought in Germany and 5 tractor trailers from the dollar store. If interested I will send you a photo. Shipping will be at cost + $2 USD for packing. Chris B. brooksarp at comcast dot net |
