Thanks for te replies. Well i Know that is difficult to sink a battleship but even if the defender has -1 for heavy damage, the attacker may win only if get 5-6 and the defender 1. Since it is difficult to have a hit with torpedoes it seems that the effect is underestimated.
Specially if compared with the power of gunfire(centre line intersect;short distance)

Don't forget, damage escalates if a ship suffers a hit of the same level, and of course not every battleship has a DF of 5 but if you think its too low then feel free to boost the torpedo AF.

Pinkus, you might consider giving a positive modifier To Hit modifier for certain attacks. That way any roll above 11 gives you multiple hits, which improves the chance of doing damage and sinking the ship.

For example, you may want to give Japanese destroyers a +2 during night battles.

Dave,i agree with the difficult to hit.
It was not so easy except with the "coup de grace" when the target is quite stationary
The problem is that is impossible, with torpedoes, to increase a Heavy damage
What do you think about
1) use a D10 instead of a D6 (only for Torpedoes damage) or
2)give the Heavy damage -2 instead of -1
i appreciate other tips
