Also note these little missile boats are one of the reasons I seriously question the new USMC strategy of deploying on islands near China and blasting Chinese ships/submarines.
The Chinese have 82 such vessels.
Then the rest of their littoral fleet.
72 Type 056 corvettes (1500 ton displacement)
25 Type 062 gunboats
15 Type 037 missile FACS
Then the Coast Guard which has 133 patrol craft from 230 tons to 12,000 tons.
These are supported by large numbers of maritime patrol aircraft and anywhere up to 100,000 seamines and who knows how many batteries of shore based long range anti-shipping missiles and all supported by a large over the horizon radar network.
That excludes blue water fleet (45-ish frigates, 35-ish destroyers and 70-ish subs plus more being built)).
Now the USMC is getting 75 Light Amphibious Warships for this new infiltration mission. These are slow barely armed ships (1 x 30mm cannon) ships the size of a WWII LCM.
So how are the Marines going to get past this mega Chinese littoral fleet in a slow bucket with WW2 era performance?
