The question is driven by the availability, in the 15mm Minifigs range, of two sets of Napoleonic Saxon grenadiers: in 1802 uniforms vs. 1810 uniforms. I did some Google searching but I was not able to understand what the differences might be. Any idea? Thanks in advance! |

quite a lot in 1802 they would carry the sabre in a waistbelt – the lapels would just be carried open, maybe fixed only by two hooks and eyes over the chest, the calfskin pack was carried at the hip, while in 1809 – they had back packs, the sabre belt was worn across the shoulder to create cross belts and the front of the lapels were hooked down as much as possible. I don't know about minifigs, but the Perrys are trend setters and are the first who will show the differences for their miniatures. Here for 1806 – which should be in line for 1802

The 1810 will be Guard grenadiers with epaulettes. Line grenadiers wore the standard uniform of their regiment with a red plume or pompom as a distinctive. But unlike most other French allies the line grenadiers did not wear epaulettes. |

The Leibgardegrenadiere had alreay in 1805 Epaulettes, in contrast to the line regiments, I don't know when those epaulettes were introduced for the Leibgrenadier Garde – but Hess shows them already in his series about the Saxon Army of 1805 and also Lindt of about 1803/04 as well. |
