To represent in a more realistic way line formations for infantry units we have changed the size of the figures to show shorter and taller men. Also the size of the figures have variation to represent skinner and stronger men within the same company. Muskets, bayonets, shako, cartdrige pouches and belts are all the same size for all figures. Here is how the project looks like. Itis shown the same figure all across to facilitate the visual comparison. We are working on the actual figures to have them done. We will post some images when finished. Please feel free to comment.

A nice idea, but you also need to change the faces, so they don't all look identical. |
nickinsomerset | 29 Mar 2021 11:44 a.m. PST |
As Anthony said. Left and Right number, evens take one step forwards, Odds one step back! Left and right turn, forwards march! Approximate orders so that a formation of soldiers in 3 ranks will have the tallest at the two ends and the shorts ar+++ in the centre. Not sure if they formed up in a similar way but it looks smarter than random heights scattered about the formation, Tally Ho! |

Yes Anthony, In the image they have the same face because it is the same figure. In the battalions we are building up each figure has not only a different face but a different pose too. |

Here are some of the different figures

Will these be cast in metal or plastic? |
IUsedToBeSomeone | 29 Mar 2021 2:07 p.m. PST |
Nice idea but actually, I don't want different size figures in my units. I find the current modern trend of everyone in the ranks ignoring drill and doing different things annoying enough as it is… Toy soldiers should be in step in my armies! :0) Mike |
regimientosdeamerica | 29 Mar 2021 2:16 p.m. PST |
Rich, these are done in resin. Having all different figures in one battallion makes too expensive for makeing casting molds for each of them. |
regimientosdeamerica | 29 Mar 2021 2:18 p.m. PST |
Yrs, there are gamers who prefer different sizes by company, so the granedier section gets taller and the licht companies shorter. |

for me the model ends with his head - no shako a plume just for right? just joe |

soldiers were ranged according to height – you would not find a small man next to a tall one, in the French Army, for example tallest right and then descending to smallest at the left, then you would divide this in three ranks, tallest rank first rank, smallest second rank and middle tall – 3rd rank. The result would be almost identical height in each rank. For that reason I also resent different heights of miniatures – I applaud however the idea of using scaled down muskets and equipment. Also I agree totally with AB, in case you like to invest in variety, better do different faces and also slightly different poses (as you show on your last photo) – the standing at ease miniatures look lovely. Another misconception are taller grenadiers, this was not always the case for all armies, in same you could be average height and being promoted to the grenadiers like due to serving well and earning more pay. |

@vW in the French Army, for example tallest right and then descending to smallest at the left This would be per peleton? or per section? In the modern British army: Tallest on the ends, smallest in the centre. |

Keep in mind that the difference in the miniatures we are doing are not only in height but also in size (skinner, fatter). We are doing all different faces, indeed, and different poses for all of them, so no figure in a battalion will have its "identical twin". I believe this pictures show them better.

there you do so super nicely detailed miniatures, the lock should be closed, and not shown with an open pan as you do, only after having fired the pan would be open. |

Head angles and facial variations is far more desirable than an attempt at height variations. Perry Miniatures for example nail it. |

Just a comment- I won't be a customer, but your first pic scared me actually… however your last renderings appear superb and I'd very much wish you every success. Human anatomy is such a diverse subject to model and there are so many instances of failure that have survived in this hobby, just because of the uniforms hung on them. Regards, d== |

We agree with it , VB. Head angles give personality to the figures.

Hats off to this project, if its in reality their perfect. Even in USAF formation it's done probably still today. True not in my scope but to those it's for go for them. |

They look great! Two questions: 1) which nations will you be doing? 2) how will they be sold? (individually? in packs of 6? How much will they cost etc?) |
